Statement on the PCUSA and the Sin of Sodomy
adopted byLouisiana Presbytery
of the
Presbyterian Church in America
on
July 21, 2001
WHEREAS the Lord ordained at creation the ordinance of marriage whereby one man and one woman unite through holy matrimony, which is the only permissible union for sexual relations.
WHEREAS the Lord, Who changes not, clearly declared in His older testament that sodomy (also referred to as homosexuality) is an abomination. Leviticus 18:22.
WHEREAS the Lord clearly declared in His newer testament through the Apostle Paul that those who practice sodomy (and other sins) shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. I Corinthians 6:9-10.
WHEREAS the Presbyterian Church has historically and rightly denied ordination to men engaging in sins which dishonored the Name of Christ, including the abomination of sodomy.
WHEREAS the PCUSA, the largest Presbyterian denomination in the United States of America, recently voted at its General Assembly to begin procedures to ordain sodomites as officers in its church, which was once a faithful member in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
WHEREAS many folk erroneously believe that all Presbyterian churches may be associated with the larger, now heretical, PCUSA.
BE IT RESOLVED THAT Louisiana Presbytery, its churches, session and elders, declare that they are members of the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America), which was formed in 1973 to create a Presbyterian denomination faithful to the Scriptures and the Reformed Faith, and that Louisiana Presbytery and its members have no association or affiliation with the PCUSA.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Louisiana Presbytery decries and denounces the heretical vote by the PCUSA which initiated procedures to ordain sodomites, which action implicitly declared acceptable that which God declared an abomination.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Louisiana Presbytery reminds all folk engaged in the sin of sodomy that the loving, merciful God Who declares this sin an abomination will have mercy on and forgive all who sincerely confess and forsake it.
